Managing Deliverables and Assessing the Health of the COB&R Program – 02

THE ISSUE

With five different contractors working on the Coordination of Benefits & Recovery Program (COB&R), CMS found it difficult to manage deliverables and assess the contributions and risks associates with each of the individual contractors.

THE RESULT

As the Medicare Secondary Payer Integration Contractor (MSPIC), NHA led the development of a SharePoint-based automated deliverable tracking system, which allows CMS to review and approve deliverables and gives CMS and the contractors information on deliverable status.  Additionally, NHA created a Quarterly Executive Report that provides CMS with information on the performance of each of the contractors in relation to the overall program, including key indicators such as risks, system development progress and deliverable status.  The report includes a one-page Dashboard that allows CMS executives to quickly assess program health and status.
