Developing Systems and Testing Protocols to Improve the Performance of the COB&R Program

THE ISSUE

CMS previously relied on two systems for Non-Group Health Plan (NGHP) recoveries, causing data duplication and inefficiencies in system maintenance.

THE RESULT

As the MSPIC, NHA led the development and implementation of a single, consolidated Benefits Coordination and Recovery System (BCRS). Our team managed scope definition, requirements facilitation, user acceptance and regression testing, and documentation. The new system reduced duplication, streamlined operations, and is now the standard for both NGHP and Group Health Plan (GHP) recoveries, supporting CMS’s goals of efficiency and program integrity.
