Developing Systems and Testing Protocols to Improve the Performance of the COB&R Program

THE ISSUE

CMS initially used two different systems to perform non-Group Health Plan (NGHP) recoveries, resulting in duplication of data and complicating systems maintenance and enhancement efforts.

THE RESULT

As the MSPIC, NHA led the development of a single, consolidated “Benefits Coordination and Recovery System” (BCRS), including scope definition, facilitation and documentation of requirements focusing on user needs, user acceptance and regression testing, and development of user documentation. The consolidated system has proven so successful that it is now used by another contractor for NGHP as well as Group Health Plan (GHP) recoveries.

Developing Systems and Testing Protocols to Improve the Performance of the COB&R Program

THE ISSUE

The MSP Systems Contractor (MSPSC) contacted NHA, concerned that the length of time it was taking to complete Return-to-Service (RTS) testing was negatively impacting the production schedule.

THE RESULT

NHA’s Testing Engineer used HP’s Unified Functional Testing application to develop an ongoing automated testing process for RTS testing. Using automation, NHA reduced the time taken for RTS testing from up to 2 hours to only 10 minutes.
